As a follow-up, things seem to be back to normal now. The huge CPU numbers maybe started to fade away yesterday (3/14), and I've not seen them at all today. I made no app changes that could account for this yesterday. I'm curious if anyone else saw this behavior or if anyone on the App Engine team can say if something was changed (and then changed back).
