Thanks Ikai, I am sorry I mentioned SSN and credit cards, I should be clearer... I guess I am getting at what type of service this is relative to other paid hosting services where I expect strong security and privacy.
When I mention to clients that I am considering using Google App Engine to process and store their private data (so far no SSNs or credit card info involved), the response I get is concern that Google will mine their information and somehow make it public because that is what Google does. When I show them the privacy and security documents, they are not comforted. It would be nice if there were some absolutely clear and simple statements heading these documents that would put them at ease. Such as, we will never mine your data for any purpose. You control the privacy of your data, we will never expose your data to anyone other than the application developer. We will secure your data using the tightest industry standards. And then follow with all the liability disclaimer stuff. So again, I am asking two things: 1) Without hiring a lawyer, I am wondering if the above statements that I am suggesting are true. and 2) Are other organizations storing private data in Google App Engine with the same faith that one would have in an in-house storage service or a paid, third-party hosting service? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google App Engine" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
