Just had a look at the tutorials

The datastore access tutorial is shown using

self.response.out.write rather than print.

If you have your app.yaml and python script setup as the helloworld
example then print should work (I have never seen exit() required)

But if you are using webapp then print won't work.

You probably need to provide a little more information about how your
environment is set up.
