Hi I just checked what I am getting, and your speed is actually quite good.
I am in Australia and dream of those speeds ;-) On my link the best I can get for a static file is 600ms from appengine, I am on a 3G network (it's all I can get). But even on a faster network I am still only managing 400ms. Where as from an ec2 instance -> appengine I am getting a figure of between 7ms and 10ms.
