HI I couldn't agree more. Absolutely the single biggest issue I see with app engine is not feature set, performance or availability but the lack of communication when things go wrong, and if you are in a appengine dead-zone trying to get any form acknowledgement that there is a problem.
I have lost count of the number of posts I have made along these lines. And just for the record, I think appengine is great!
