I'm not getting the 403 or 409 errors either, nor am I getting the "version not ready" message. I keep getting the "Checking if new version is ready to serve. Will check again in 60 seconds." It finally times out and ends with:
Closing update: new version is ready to start serving. Uploading index definitions.
