Hi Nick I have been in this situation es several timbefore. I don't envy you at the moment. Sometimes trying to get googles attention is really hard.
Have you logged a production issue it can sometimes attract attention. http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/entry?template=Production%20issue I firmly believe you can be unfortunate and get caught in a small pocket of appengine servers that continually have a problem, and this is not detected by their monitoring system. (In fact the situation you are experiencing is about the only thing that "REALLY" concerns me about appengine.) You might want to also monitor #irc (#appengine) and see if one of the google dudes come on line. Sorry I can't help you directly.
