Ikai, thanks a lot for looking into this. Two things that were wrong with this app were: 1. It wasn't counted against the limit of 10 apps per Google account. Before creating this app I had 3 apps created and "7 applications remaining." Now I have 4 apps but still "7 applications remaining", according to https://appengine.google.com/ homepage 2. The admin logs for the app do not contain the usual "Created the application" event. If you assure me that no other irregularities could have arisen from the 500 server error during app creation, I can surely live with these.
