I'm guessing this wouldn't be a good idea for large datastores. I have around 7 gigs of data. Downloading the data or copying it to another datastore as part of a backup doesn't really seem like a good idea.
The feature that I have shared the link to in this thread, asks for snapshots of the datastore to be saved at regular intervals.
