I also run an SWF. Was mystified for a long time as to why the index.html wrapper from the Flex File>Export never worked when I had it in my static folder. Something about Adobe's wrapper that doesn't seem to work.
Never figured that out, but have not moved to SWFObject 2.2 (thanks Google) rather than the auto-generated html. This is a better wrapper, and a must if you ever plan to user Facebook connectivity. Note: when you set up your index.html using SWFObject, be sure to set up your export such that you don't overwrite it when you do your Export.
