In that case, there is no comparison whatsoever between the concept of Instances on EC2 and GAE. Although the pricing looks similar.
Also, will there be some control given to user in deciding how many instances at max will be live? Since the user is going to be charged for these... Looking at the pricing, it looks like instances will be billed hourly.
