I can buy a 2 times more powerful VPS for 1/5 the price of a GAE instance. There is zero justification for charging so much. One thing is certain for me - if the new billing comes without enabling some form of Python multithreading, I'm definitely out. And even if Python multithreading comes in some form, it will be pseudo-concurrency at best, because of the GIL. Unless they lock Guido in a dark room until he removes the GIL from CPython 2.7, which is highly unlikely.
