Hi,

You might have encountered the following issue : you like the standard
backup / restore solution offered by Google but would love to have backup /
restore by namespace. It seems that Google will be at one point offering
that functionality but there is no commitment on a target date yet.

I have received a consulting offer to develop such a solution but would
like to see how to reduce the cost. So, if you are interested to
participate I am thinking of reselling the code for 300$ for each person
willing to have the functionality.

The solution would be along the following lines :

* Built as an extension of the backup / restore code offered by Google

 * A new bundle to be uploaded as a separate Version which duplicates all
the datastore admin functionality but adds extra behavior.

 * It supports a URL you can hit from cron (so you can back up
nightly) which will read namespaces from the datastore and back up
each separately.

 * UI for two separate steps, either of which can be run independently
from the other:
    1) Delete all entities in a namespace
    2) Restore entities in a namespace from a particular backup

* The code would be offered as such with a documentation on how to install
but no support / no liability.

The decision as to build or not will be dependent on the number of people
to join. Just send me your feedback and I will consolidate.

If Google wants to sponsor this effort, you are very welcome !

Hugues
