There is definitely something wrong with GAE at the moment! Over the past 6 months, one of my apps has been averaging about 33 Frontend Instance Hours each day, with a single peak of 86 hours on one day. The average Outgoing Bandwidth is 0.01 GB/day with a max of 0.04 GB, and averages 59 emails/day (with a a max of 260).
Today that app is showing 247.12 Instance Hours, and 4.00 GB Outgoing Bandwidth and 10,003 Recipients Emailed, with 7 hours still to go! Note that the dashboard Current Load shows only 7 users today (which is the same as shown in the application logs), so there is no way that my app could have emailed 10,003 recipients (because the app only emails each recipient once, and logs each email sent).
