Google just updated the documentation on this <https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/managed-vms/getting-started#check_your_docker_versions>. You can use the Cloud SDK with 1.7.0 of boot2docker. However, you have to use the following command to download the 1.7.0 ISO (instead of just grabbing the latest version).
