Hey James, You seem to have landed in the Google App Engine forum, which is more of a place for general discussion of App Engine and the Cloud Platform. I think a question like this would be better posted to stackoverflow. On the docs page for the Contacts API <https://developers.google.com/google-apps/contacts/v3/?hl=en>, there is also a text box at the very top which points to directions of how to migrate to OAuth2, which I think should help you with your issue.
