I have received a noticed regarding: Upgrade to the latest version of the Google Stackdriver Monitoring Agent
The notice stats that: "As we communicated earlier, starting on *Tuesday 6 September 2016*, Google Stackdriver Monitoring will begin to roll out a new alerting system for agent metrics which requires the latest version of the monitoring agent to be installed on your VM instances. ...
