Hey Ralf, There are plans to very soon push Go 1.7 to the App Engine standard environment <https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/google-appengine-go/3K0gJh8qZUE>. We should expect to see it available within the first few months of 2017.
As for Go 1.8, there are no published road maps regarding its integration to GAE standard but based on the track record for previous Go runtime releases, I suspect that 1.8 will follow suit as 1.6 did and 1.7 will. I realize that these do not constitute hard dates with which to plan your own releases but this is the most road map information that exists and can be made public at this time. I hope this answers your questions or concerns. On Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 8:04:52 PM UTC-5, Ralf Haug wrote: > > The Go Standard Environment did not get updated to 1.7. 1.8 is out in one > month.
