Since the 'documents <https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/standard/python/search/#Python_Creating_a_document>' are JSON objects and not raw binary, they cannot be saved into Google Cloud Storage. I think they use to be persisted to BigTable <https://cloud.google.com/bigtable/>, but I believe they may now actually be stored in Spanner <https://cloud.google.com/spanner/>.
