I can see a benefit of having a custom GUID for the account. Many companies and universities have employee/student IDs that map into their HR/SA systems. It'd be widely used, especially when Google provides account renaming functionality, for batch processing. There should be an additional endpoint for looking up a user based upon that GUID, as well.
