Hi,

I think it would be a lot of work to reproduce the functionality
offered by xmlsec (e.g. canonicalizing XML).  If you're referring to
the PHP sample code, you might be able to get mostly there by making
the template XML files more canonical.  Thanks for the feedback.

Have you tried simpleSAMLphp?  It's my understanding that it does not
rely on xmlsec.
