I was thinking about the Google Apps E-mail send restrictions. Individually, sending out > 2000 e-mails per day makes sense to put a cap (based on a number of reasons). But, assuming that you have software that absolutely needs to send more than the given number of e- mails in a single day, it would be wise to have a distribution list to stagger the way the e-mails are sent.
I was thinking about no-reply e-mails, based on the fact that the e- mail is automatically sent out by the software for say: registering, forgetting a password, purchasing something...etc. I know you can create an e-mail list address like: no- [EMAIL PROTECTED] If I were to create a distribution list I would have to do something like: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] There should be a way to group distribution lists, that way the e-mail still being sent to everyone looks like: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also, there should be a way to prevent e-mail replies. no-reply means that no user should be able to reply to that e-mail address. By doing that you could potentially save a lot of bandwidth and data just by putting a simple checkbox in the Google Apps E-mail Dashboard. I also think Google should consider some sort of Certificate that verifies that some software is not sending spam (doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to check the e-mails though). That way, software that needs to send out a ton of e-mails per day are allowed to do so if they have that certificate. It's like going to a secure site (which has a certificate provided by a third party to say this site is secure and is not fraudulent) except for Spam. I think something like that could fight a lot of situations for spamming software. Anyway, that's my rant... --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Apps APIs" group.
