Our institution is looking for an elegant solution to migrating an account's email after the account has been renamed. Strictly speaking, we are aware that an account cannot be renamed but for ease of discussion, that is what we are calling it. In reality, we want to create a new account and migrate the email associated with the old Google Apps account to the new Google Apps account (same domain).
The FAQ suggests this: Renaming a username is not supported at this time. One workaround is to create a new user and to migrate and share data from the old user to the new user. Is there a simple way to migrate the "old user to the new user"? We don't know the user's password as we are using an external authentication souce via SSO. Maybe I'm just confused about how the migration API works when all we want to do is move email from one Google Apps account to another on the same domain. Of course label and contacts need to be migrated as well. Frankly, this seems like a lot of work to simply rename an account. However, it is necessary because we frequently rename accounts based on life events such as marriage, divorce, etc. Thank you, Mark --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Apps APIs" group.
