Hi, The Emails Settings API allows administrators only to write or modify settings, as you said, it does not allow reading current user settings. You can modify their settings to cancel the actual forwarding, but you risk canceling newer forwarding rules that users may need.
Unfortunately there is not an automatic solution to the problem, you need to ask users to backup their forwarding settings or ask them to cancel the forwarding rules by hand.
