Thanks for the replies! The problem with filtering out the data after the request is, you never know how much data to request if you want a standard amount of results. And with paging the logic could get crazy. I'd have to pretty much request back the maxim, cache it and do paging manually. And I'm sure the maxim is pretty low to stop abuse.
I'll go with the "no image" image to start with.
