Hi,
We have been using Google Base's http interface to display
supplemental results in the homes for sale by owner vertical for
several years. In July we upgraded our 'map view' to also include
these supplemental results. Today, we switched our site over to use
the map view as our primary view. This will increase the number of
queries we are sending. After a couple of hours, we began receiving
403 Forbidden error messages. I just grabbed the body of the message
- it says:
We're sorry...
... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a
computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't
process your request right now.
We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again
soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network
has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware
remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other
spurious software.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again
on Google.
I believe we had the same issue back in July when we first implemented
the Google Base integration with our maps. I searched the forum for
the message, but not see it. I believe we contacted you and our limit
was increased. We have around 300K site visits per month, so it is
not an incredible amount of traffic, but it is significant. I have
alter the site so the map view is not the primary view again until we
can get this corrected. This should drop our volume.
You can see an example of the map page at
http://www.homesbyowner.com/jackson_tn/map.asp.
We do a gbase query every time the map is moved. It is my
understanding that we are not allowed to cache the gbase information -
if we were to cache it (5 minute cache timeout), we could reduce the
amount of queries if the volume is an issue. If the limit can just be
increased, that would be great.
Please let me know if you need additional information.
Thanks
Ken Hamric
