ES5 does not rewrite regexps, so the performance aspect of this bug is no
longer an issue.
As for normalizing browser behavior (specifically, eliminating IE quirks),
since there is no direct security impact, I don't see us adding a rewriting
step merely to fix that part of the system.
Marking WontFix on that basis.
