There is of course a solution to the problem already, although it is not very pretty:
A user of a hosted domain could open an ordinary gmailaccount next to the hosted account, and share this new calendar with full management rights to his hosted-domain account (thus, using google's full functionality). Then the syncing only needs to be done with an ordinary account, and the user will only have to look at his hosted-domain account. Works splendid for me!
