Can you check if the user is still getting this error?

Also, the 6 times in 24-hours -- were these attempts spread out
throughout the 24 hours?

Yes, that user is able to use the Google Calendar in question through
the UI with no problems.

I see the same error intermittently for many other users, but whenever
my code encounters a 500 error it retries the request several times,
which almost always works. I keep wondering if all of the servers
running the API and/or gCal have the same code build.
