My latest idea is to have a small calendar representation inside my java application that will display 7 seven days of your choice and all the events within those days in a similar fashion to Google Calendar. The calendar should allow editing of events and as much of the basic functionality as possible. The key here is interaction. Currently you have to go back to Google Calendar to properly play with your schedule. I would be happy to incorporate the Google Calendar display directly into my application but I don't know if I'm able retrieve which events have been clicked on in the Calendar interface. Additonally, my application is going to allow a local download of a user's calendar which can then be adjusted offline and later synchronised. If indeed there is a way to find out which event is selected on Google Calendar is there also a way to change where Google Calendar gets the events it uses from?!
Or, would it be simpler to write a simple calendar applet myself that emulates the Google Calendar interface. Once again, thanks very much for your continued advice.
