Hi Aron,

The hex portion of the ID is not globally unique.  While the chances
are slim that you would get a calendar event and a blog entry (for
example) that have the same ID, the possibility exists, hence the need
for the full URL.

There are currently no plans to change this behavior so your best bet
is to continue using the full resource URL.
