You can use the q parameter on public calendars.  Just send your query
to:
http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/<calendarID>/private/full?q=<keyword>

You can get the calendarID from the Calendar Settings page or from the
allcalendars feed:
http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/default/allcalendars/full
