I agree that error message doesn't make sense. I am sorry that I
cannot reproduce your problem to help you. Like i said with the same
XML below I was able to add to the comment feed using the Java client
library.

<atom:entry xmlns:atom='http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom'
xmlns:gAcl='http://schemas.google.com/acl/2007'
xmlns:batch='http://schemas.google.com/gdata/batch'
xmlns:gCal='http://schemas.google.com/gCal/2005'
xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005'><atom:category
scheme='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#kind'
term='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#message'/><atom:content
type='text'>Hi!!!</atom:content><atom:author><atom:name>austin
chau</atom:name><atom:email>[EMAIL
PROTECTED]</atom:email></atom:author></atom:entry>

Perhaps you can look at the packet trace to detect what exactly is
being sent on the wire to the server, to learn how to do that please
