I've been thinking and looking around and have not found anything of
the sorts ...

... when creating an event most sites will let you add guest and their
emails, pictures, comments, blogs, RSVP, etc ....... I would like to
add a list of things I need for the event because people are always
asking: "what should I bring?"

Let me expand on that ... my list, for example, would include:

The list would just be several fields perhaps: Quantity | Item |
Assignee | When it was claimed/assigned.

3, Bags of Chips, Claim Now
10, Sodas, Claim Now
1, 24 Pack Beer, Claimed by [EMAIL PROTECTED]
1, Horse Shoes, Claim Now
1 lb, Beef, Claim Now
1 lb, Chicken, Claim Now
1, Green Salad, Claimed by [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Does this make sense?
