ok so i couldn't wait for a response on this issue any longer so all i did to remedy was just back up my calendar appointments from the calendar that won't sync w/ ical to my desktop through the google calendar site... started a new calendar under a different name, and imported the backed up calendar appointments from the defective calendar to the new one. once i finished that, i just re-sync'd the new calendar with ical and everything works fine now as before FYI everyone...
hopefully google can fix this bug as efforts continue to get google calendar out of the beta stages.
