Why do you believe that this is a bug? Seems more like a feature to me. It
is the same event after all, not just a second event with the same name,
date and other details.
RFC 2445 specifies globally unique identifier UID for each event. These UID
are present in the ics file. Google seems to be creating their event IDs
based on either a deterministic algorithm or by looking up the UID.
