There's no parameter that I know of that let's you specify the precision of the automatically generated labels. You can manually specify your labels via ( chxl=1:|40.0|39.5|39.0|38.5|38.0|37.5|37.0| 36.5|36.0|35.5|35.0|34.5|34.0 ) but it quite possibly could mess up your alignment (data vs. ticks/labels).
