Hi Wayne, I believe you're using axis tick mark styling to do something better accomplished with shape markers.
Take a look at the following chart... http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=bhs&chs=250x90&chd=t1:11|33&chco=1a90ff&chf=bg,s,f3f1e9&chxt=x,x,t&chm=N**%,000000,0,-1,20|H,ff0000,1,0,1&chxl=1:|Low|High|2:|Median&chxp=0,0,100|1,0,100|2,33&chxs=0N**%,000000|2,ff0000,11,0,l,ff0000 ...and note the following: (a) the addition of a new data series (chd param) to mark the median data value. The value of 1 in "cht=t1:" means that all data series after the first should be hidden from the basic chart. The data can be "used" it just isn't drawn. (b) the addition of a horizontal shape marker (chm=H) at the data point present in the second (hidden) data series.
