Hi all,

This weekend I found the new Google Maps Charts and had a bit of fun
making use of it inside Google Maps. Basically the idea is to use the
API to generate tiles for Google Maps. This can be a great technique
for creating thematic mapping that can display other info on Google
Maps. Check out for example:

http://vizzuality.s3.amazonaws.com/gmapcharts/whs_by_country.html
http://vizzuality.s3.amazonaws.com/gmapcharts/thematic.html
http://vizzuality.s3.amazonaws.com/gmapcharts/haiti.html
http://vizzuality.s3.amazonaws.com/gmapcharts/only_spain_weird.html

But the possibilities are endless.

I have created a little github project to host the examples at

http://github.com/jatorre/gmapthematic

There is a lot of cool things to do with the technique. But first of
all I am not sure if this is a fair use of the Map Charts API because
of the heavy use. So if someone from Google could confirm it would be
awesome.

Cheers,

Javier
