At the time of this post, there are 121 votes in Issue 873:Offering
Distributed Version Control System Support. And google is responding
with the label 'started' and it is assigned for milestone 2009.
Thats nice to hear.
But what are the DVCS(distibuted version control system) google is
gonna support.. there are several issues i guess every one know
about...
If git is gonna be supported:
The fact is that git does not fit well into windows(at
least like what subversion is working) though there are some nice
tweaks(cygwin) to make them work in windows .For linux, there is no
such problem at all for git.
For bazaar and mercurial:
I think Bazaar and Mercurial does not have problem with windows like
how git is having.
All the above 3 things work good in linux.
But git seems to be the most preferred choice among the three. And we
cannot ignore windows which is the dominant one (at least
now.... :-) )
I was just curious about what google-code team is gonna do in this
kind of thing. Are they gonna change git (since its released under
gpl) a bit to work well under windows (or) are they gonna support DVCS
other than git...
Hoping to hear good things from google :-)
