I'm just going to throw it out there, although I'm sure it's already
been considered at some level: Configurable tab widths for each
Googlecode project repository.

I mention it because all of my projects and, indeed, almost every
project I've ever worked with for the past 10 years, uses a *4 space
tab character*.  And while it might have been the exception rather
than the norm 10 yrs ago, it is becoming increasingly more common
since it's the default and preferred tabbing option for a C# IDE.
Since Googlecode blanketly converts all tabs into 8 spaces, it makes a
lot of the code browsers and inline diff viewers much more cumbersome
to view than they need to be.

I realize though that other languages and platforms are still intent
on adhering to the legacy tab of 8 spaces.  So for it to be viable it
would need to be something we as project admins can set on a per-
project basis.
