I'm just going to throw it out there, although I'm sure it's already been considered at some level: Configurable tab widths for each Googlecode project repository.
I mention it because all of my projects and, indeed, almost every project I've ever worked with for the past 10 years, uses a *4 space tab character*. And while it might have been the exception rather than the norm 10 yrs ago, it is becoming increasingly more common since it's the default and preferred tabbing option for a C# IDE. Since Googlecode blanketly converts all tabs into 8 spaces, it makes a lot of the code browsers and inline diff viewers much more cumbersome to view than they need to be. I realize though that other languages and platforms are still intent on adhering to the legacy tab of 8 spaces. So for it to be viable it would need to be something we as project admins can set on a per- project basis.
