A small function inside on from the Python Standard Library was
extracted and turned into a Python egg/package.

Trying to do the most straight-forward thing in terms of a license, I
figured PSL Version 2, but code.google.com doesn't seem to recognize
that in their list of licenses. So this suggests what I did might not
be the right thing. Thus, for now on code.google.com I've selected the
MIT License.

Please advise.

Note: I've also asked something similar on the python-dev mailing list
