The script is the "binary release" of this project. It downloads binary images from somewhere other than Google Code to set up the flashing station.
How does this make the binaries any less trustworthy than if the author had uploaded them to Google Code? Every time you download and run something rather than build it from source, from Google Code or anywhere else, it is a decision to trust the creator of the binary. The location of the download changes nothing to that fact. I'll admit it's a slightly unusual way of distributing the binary release, but it makes sense if the server it pulls from is eg. a continuous or nightly build server that serves fresh images rather than stable releases. Also, it looks like the site that the script pulls from is down, I get only 404s when I try to retrieve those binaries. Fortunately, the project does contain the source code, in accordance with the Terms of Service of Google Code, so you can still build the project yourself if you want. - Dave On Sun, Mar 28, 2010 at 22:01, scragar <[email protected]> wrote: > The ndstation project has only one piece of code on google code, a > script which downloads precompiled binaries from an untrusted site. > > Surely this is against the google code terms and conditions? > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Project Hosting on Google Code" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected]. > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/google-code-hosting?hl=en. > > -- Google Switzerland GmbH Brandschenkestrasse 110, Zurich, Switzerland 8002 Zurich Identifikationsnummer: CH-020.4.028.116-1 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Project Hosting on Google Code" group.
