I was trying to register a new project ('marmot') on the Google Code
Project Hosting website. It detected a name conflict with another
project on SF.net (which is a really courteous approach on google's
side!).The other project (on SF) is totally unrelated to the new one and was last updated in 2004. I wonder how potential conflicts with seemingly dormant projects can be resolved.
