The following part of the rules (see full content on http://code.google.com/p/support/wiki/FAQ):
What should I do if I wish to take over a project that appears abandoned by its owners? In these cases we take a look at the project and ask ourselves some questions: 1. How long has the project lay fallow? If less than 6 months, don't be optimistic about being assigned ownership of the project. 2. Is there something "fishy" about the circumstances of the request? People squat project names much as they do DNS names. 3. Is there code in that project? If so, it is much less likely that we will reassign ownership of that project to you except for the purpose of continuing development of that code. 4. Is the project scheduled for deletion? If so, we'll likely just give it to you. 5. Is the project you wish to take over a spam trap or hosting malware or simply not open source? 6. Have you made an effort in good faith to contact the current owners? What, if anything, did they have to say in reply? 7. Has one of the original developers died or otherwise dropped off the grid in some fashion that you can describe to us? 8. Have you hosted malware, spam or non-open source content on Project Hosting before? If so, don't be optimistic that we'll cooperate. Once you have considered these items and if you still wish to attempt to take ownership of a project or its name, please email us at google- [email protected] and let us know about it (include a description of how and when you attempted to contact the project's current owners). We usually bring these issues to resolution in a couple days. P.S. In my situation the abandoned project was absolutely empty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On May 28, 12:42 am, syrnick <[email protected]> wrote: > What's the policy for reassigning the projects? 6 months doesn't seem > to be too long to me. > > Alex > > On May 26, 4:02 pm, Augie Fackler <[email protected]> wrote:> Done. > > > Please update the project description, license, and version control > > system as appropriate. > > > Happy hacking! > > > On Wed, May 26, 2010 at 5:30 AM, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > I want to use abandoned project "ajaxportal". > > > The last access of redux.systems Aug 21, 2009 and the project is empty > > > (no pages, no content, nothing to download, etc).
