Hi everyone,
I've been privately working on a project for the last few months, a
text console based GUI system in 100% java (similar to curses but
including a gui toolkit on top), that I eventually felt I'd like to
share with the rest of the world as it could find usages elsewhere.

Now, the name I used from the beginning was "lantern" and it turns out
this precise name has been registered at sourceforge, so I could not
use that name at google code without permission from the older
"lantern" project's owner. I used the form on google code to send a
message to the author and when I didn't get any reply after a week I
emailed him personally but still (after more than a month) no reply.
The older "lantern" project was published on sourceforge in July 2003,
marked "alpha", one file released and haven't seen any activity since
then (downloads at about 3500 in total). It looks to me like the
project has been abandoned and the author might as well not be using
the same email address he registered the project with seven years ago.

Still, the policy here is not to allow me to use that name, even
though the author cannot be reached anymore, right?
Of course I could change the name on my end, but I'm the kind of
person who is really bad at coming up with names and the name
"lantern" has kind of attached itself on me during the development.

Regards,
Martin
