You don't 'buy' it?  Do we need to prove it to you somehow?  :-)
Ever since we launched our svn service four years ago, the svn 'root'
has been at /svn.  Nothing has ever changed.  svn clients have
*always* had to access https://project.googlecode.com/svn to talk to
the repository.

The behavior that you might be thinking of is that typing
'project.googlecode.com' into a browser window sometimes
auto-redirects to code.google.com/p/project.  That has had a history
of sometimes working, sometimes not.  But that's a browser-only thing,
totally irrelevant to svn clients.
