Remember that /path/to/repository might be a local path in the
example, but use the https://project.googlecode.com/svn/ path instead.

Make sure to reset the repository before uploading back the repo data:

Go to your project's homepage. From there, Administer -> Source ->
Repository -> Reset this project's repository -> Did you accidentally
commit sensitive information such as a social security number or a
password that cannot be changed?

Then you can do the final upload of the sanitized repository via
svnsync.

If you're not using Subversion... sorry, but I can't help you there.
