Hi ferringb, You can use ?r=<branch/commit>: http://pkgcore.googlecode.com/git/ http://pkgcore.googlecode.com/git/?r=argparse http://pkgcore.googlecode.com/git/?r=3da1d0
I think the only place we expose these URLs to you is via the source browser. For example, Source > Browse > README > branch "argparse" > "View raw file" will take you to http://pkgcore.googlecode.com/git/README?r=argparse. So, sorry this is not better documented. Hope this helps.
