Hi Varun, Vikash is right in what he said, but I'd like to add that if you go to the topcoder page he posted, go to, on the left side panel -> Educational Content -> Algorithm Tutorials. There you will find many interesting tutorials.
Another useful source of information is the book "Art of Programming Contest", it's a free, available online book, oriented to the ACM-ICPC contests, but most GCJ problems have some similarities with ACM or TC problems.
